Alice Montgomery (1850-1904)

ALICE MONTGOMERY (1850-1904)

Alice Montgomery married William Everall in San Jose de Guatemala on 12th November 1868 when she was 18 and he was 30.  He was a merchant and Vice Consul in San Jose at the time. They had a large family, including William Montgomery and Henry Frederick who were sent to England to be educated when they were around 15 and 13 and never returned to Guatemala or saw their parents again.

Records suggest that Alice came from Ayrshire; she was apparently proud of her Scottish background.  The story is that she was a great pianist and that her father, Archibald Montgomery, was against this so took her on a world tour to dissuade her.

Does anybody have information about Alice?
